Sumwise Privacy Policy

Sumwise is an Android calculator app for tallying a single session of money in and out. This policy explains, in plain language, what happens to your information when you use it. The short version: nothing leaves your phone.

Sumwise collects no data. None at all.

There is no account, no sign-in, no server, and no internet connection. Nothing you type into Sumwise is transmitted anywhere, because the app has no way to transmit it.

1. Summary

Sumwise is a calculator for a single session of money in and out — a shopkeeper totalling a bill, a treasurer tallying contributions, a trip organiser splitting costs, a contractor quoting a client. Its tagline is “In, out, clear.”

It is a fully offline, on-device app. It does not have user accounts. It does not have servers. It does not connect to the internet. It contains no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no tracking of any kind.

Everything you enter — your calculations, saved sessions, settings, and an optional shop name and logo — is written only to the app’s private storage area on your own device, and stays there.

2. Information we collect

We collect nothing. Advani Digital Solutions receives no information whatsoever from your use of the Sumwise app.

Specifically, Sumwise does not collect, transmit, store on our servers, sell or share:

  • Your name, email address, phone number or any contact details
  • Any account or login information — the app has no accounts to sign in to
  • Your calculations, totals, session names, notes or saved lists
  • Your shop name, shop logo or any business details you enter
  • Your location, contacts, photos, files, microphone or camera
  • Device identifiers, advertising IDs or installation identifiers
  • Usage statistics, event logs, diagnostics or crash reports

Because no data is collected, there is no data for us to share with third parties, and there are no third-party services embedded in the app that could collect it independently.

3. Where your data lives

Everything Sumwise remembers is stored in the app’s own private on-device storage, in the sandboxed area Android reserves for the app. This includes your in-progress session, your saved sessions, your preferences, and your optional shop name and logo.

This data is never transmitted off your device by Sumwise. Other apps on your phone cannot read it. We cannot read it — we have no mechanism to, and no copy of it exists anywhere but your device.

If you uninstall Sumwise, Android deletes this storage along with the app. There is no cloud copy and no way for us to restore it, so please export a backup first if you want to keep your saved sessions.

4. Permissions

Sumwise requests no Android runtime permissions at all. The app declares no sensitive permissions in its manifest.

It does not request or receive access to:

  • Location — precise or approximate
  • Contacts, call logs, SMS or phone state
  • Microphone or camera
  • Storage or media file access
  • Internet or network access

If your device ever prompts you for a permission on behalf of Sumwise, it is not a permission the app has asked for, and you should decline it and contact us.

5. No internet features

Sumwise has no internet features. It does not sync, back up to a cloud, check for updates, load remote content, or contact any server — ours or anyone else’s.

The app works identically in aeroplane mode, with mobile data switched off, and with no SIM card. If you would like to confirm this for yourself, that is the simplest test: turn off all connectivity and use the app normally. Nothing changes.

6. Shop name and logo

You can optionally add a shop or business name and a logo, which then appear on the totals you share. Both are entirely optional; Sumwise works fully without them.

When you add a logo, Sumwise opens your device’s system photo picker. This is a feature of Android itself, not of Sumwise. The app does not receive access to your photo library — the system shows you your photos, you choose one, and the system hands back only that single image. Sumwise never sees any other photo on your device, and this is why the app needs no storage permission.

The image you choose is stored, resized, in the app’s private on-device storage, exactly like the rest of your settings. It is never uploaded anywhere. You can change or remove it at any time in the app.

7. Backup and restore

Sumwise lets you export your saved sessions and settings to a backup file, so you can move them to a new phone. The export is written to a location you choose, using your device’s own file dialog. The file stays entirely under your control — Sumwise does not upload it, and we never receive a copy.

When you restore, Sumwise reads only the one file you explicitly select through the system file picker. It does not browse, scan, index or read any other file on your device, and it has no permission to do so.

Anything you subsequently do with your backup file — emailing it to yourself, saving it to a cloud drive — is outside Sumwise and is governed by whichever service you choose to use.

8. Sharing a total

Sumwise can hand a finished total to someone else as an image card, a PDF, a CSV file or plain text. This happens only when you tap Share.

When you do, Sumwise passes the content to Android’s standard share sheet, and you pick where it goes — a messaging app, email, a file manager, and so on. The app itself sends nothing and transmits nothing. It hands the content to the operating system at your instruction, and the app you choose takes it from there under that app’s own privacy policy.

9. No analytics, advertising or tracking

Sumwise contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash-reporting service and no tracking technology of any kind. We do not know how many times you open the app, which features you use, or whether you use it at all.

The app does not use cookies, advertising identifiers, fingerprinting or any other profiling technique. No user data is sold, rented or shared with data brokers, advertisers or any other third party, because none is gathered in the first place.

This applies to the app. Our website at advanidigital.com is separate and does use standard web analytics; that is described in our website privacy policy. Visiting our website is not required to use Sumwise.

10. Deleting your data

Because your data never leaves your device, deleting it is entirely in your hands and takes effect immediately.

  • Delete individual saved sessions from within the app
  • Use the app’s reset option to clear saved sessions and settings
  • Clear the app’s storage from Android Settings › Apps › Sumwise › Storage
  • Uninstall the app, which removes all of its data with it

There is no deletion request to send us and no account to close. We hold no copy of your information, so there is nothing on our side to delete.

11. Children’s privacy

Sumwise is a general-purpose calculator and is not directed at children. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if the app changes. Any updated version will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.

If a future version of Sumwise ever collects or transmits any data, we will update this policy before that version is released, and the change will be described plainly here rather than buried.
